Why we built a POS into a business intelligence platform#
Most small retailers use a standalone POS to process sales and a completely separate system — if they have one at all — to understand what those sales mean. The data sits in two places. Getting it out of the till and into a dashboard requires CSV exports, manual uploads, or expensive integrations that break every time one side updates. We decided the simplest way to give shop owners real-time retail intelligence was to eliminate the gap entirely. AskBiz POS is not a third-party integration. What AskBiz POS does#
AskBiz POS is a mobile-first Progressive Web App that runs on any smartphone or tablet. You do not need a dedicated terminal, receipt printer, or barcode scanner to get started — your phone camera does the scanning. No hardware required — just your phone#

UK retailers face real compliance obligations — Making Tax Digital, VAT record-keeping, GDPR for customer data, and receipt regulations. AskBiz POS handles these automatically. Every transaction is recorded digitally with the date, items, amounts, VAT breakdown, and payment method — satisfying HMRC's MTD digital record-keeping requirements. VAT is calculated and separated on every sale. Transaction data is retained for the lifetime of your account, well beyond HMRC's six-year minimum.
