One POS Dashboard for Restaurant, Retail, Repair, and Salon — Why Multi-Sector Matters
Multi-sector businesses — a garage with a retail parts counter, a café with merchandise, a beauty studio that also does repairs — have always needed multiple POS systems or awkward workarounds. AskBiz POS now supports Restaurant, Retail, Repair, and Salon from one account. Staff are locked to their assigned sector. Intelligence is separated by sector. The owner sees everything from one dashboard.

The multi-sector small business is more common than you think#
Business categories are cleaner in theory than in practice. A Nairobi mechanic sells spare parts over the counter as well as taking in repair jobs. A Lagos beauty salon also sells hair products to walk-in customers. A UK café sells branded merchandise and gifts alongside coffee. A repair shop has a retail counter for accessories. Each of these businesses is technically multi-sector — and until now, almost every POS system forced them to choose one primary mode or use two separate systems.
How sector separation works in AskBiz#
Each staff member is assigned to a sector: Restaurant, Retail, Repair, or Salon. When they log in at pos.askbiz.co, they see only the interface relevant to their sector. A cashier assigned to Retail sees the product till. A repair engineer sees their job queue. A restaurant server sees the order flow. They cannot cross into other sectors accidentally. The owner, logging in at askbiz.co/pos, sees everything: a unified dashboard with Branch and Sector filter dropdowns that let them drill into any combination of location and sector.
Intelligence that stays separated#
Revenue, margins, staff performance, and anomaly detection all respect sector boundaries. The restaurant daily brief only analyses restaurant transactions. Repair job analytics only cover the repair workflow. When you filter to a specific sector, every tab of the dashboard — Overview, Operations, Staff, Branches, Map, Audit — updates to show only that sector's data. This means a business owner can answer 'how did my repair sector perform last month compared to my retail counter?' with two dropdown changes, not a spreadsheet.

Staff sector assignment and the 2-edit limit#
Assigning a staff member to a sector is done in the Staff tab. Each staff member can have their sector changed a maximum of two times — this prevents seat-sharing between different workers, which would undermine the per-seat pricing model. The sector badge on each staff member is colour-coded: orange for Restaurant, purple for Repair, pink for Salon, green for Retail. The edit limit counter is displayed on the edit form so there are no surprises.
Restaurant tiles link to the dedicated restaurant interface#
Restaurant is the most complex sector — it has its own dedicated interface at pos.askbiz.co/restaurant, with order management, kitchen flow, cover counting, and the daily brief. From the admin dashboard, the Services tab Restaurant tiles link directly to these pages. Staff assigned to the Restaurant sector land on the restaurant hub automatically when they log in. No configuration needed beyond the sector assignment.
People also ask
Can one AskBiz account handle both a restaurant and a retail shop?
Yes. AskBiz POS supports Restaurant, Retail, Repair, and Salon from a single account. Staff are assigned to their sector and only see the relevant interface. The owner sees combined and filtered intelligence across all sectors from one dashboard.
Do I pay extra for multiple sectors on AskBiz?
No. Sectors are not priced separately. You pay per staff seat regardless of which sector they work in. One subscription covers all sectors you operate.
How many times can I change a staff member's sector?
Each staff member has a maximum of two sector changes. This limit protects the integrity of per-seat pricing. After two changes, a new seat must be purchased to reassign the worker to a different sector.
