Managing Your Payment Method

How to add, update, or remove payment methods on your AskBiz account — including credit cards, debit cards, and what to do if a card expires.

Accepted payment methods

AskBiz accepts the following payment methods:

  • Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit and debit cards
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay (on supported browsers)
  • BACS bank transfer (Business plan annual subscriptions only — contact hello@askbiz.co to arrange)

All card payments are processed securely by Stripe. AskBiz never stores your full card number — only a secure token is held, meaning even AskBiz staff cannot see your card details.

Adding or updating your payment method

To add a new card or update your existing payment method:

1. Go to Settings → Billing → Payment Method

2. Click Update Card

3. Enter your new card details (card number, expiry, CVV, and billing postcode)

4. Click Save — your new card is set as the default payment method immediately

5. The next billing cycle will charge the new card

If you are adding a card in advance of an upcoming renewal, your old card will remain active until the new card is saved. Both can exist simultaneously — the most recently saved card is used for billing.

What happens when your card expires

If your card expires before renewal:

1. AskBiz will attempt to charge the expired card (card networks sometimes allow charges on recently expired cards in certain regions)

2. If the charge fails, you will receive an email prompting you to update your payment method

3. Your account remains active during a 7-day grace period

4. If payment is not updated within 7 days, your account is paused (data is retained but dashboards become read-only)

5. Once you update your card and payment succeeds, your account is immediately reactivated

To avoid this, add your new card before the expiry date. AskBiz sends a reminder email 30 days before your card's expiry date.

Removing a payment method

You cannot remove a payment method if it is the only card on your account and you have an active subscription — a backup payment method must be added first.

To remove a card:

1. Go to Settings → Billing → Payment Method

2. Add a new card (this becomes the primary method)

3. Click Remove next to the old card

If you are cancelling your subscription, your payment method is automatically removed when the account is fully closed (after any active period expires).
