Creating a promotion#

Go to POS > Promotions and click New Promotion. Choose the type: percentage discount, fixed amount off, buy X get Y free, or bundle pricing. Set the start and end dates. Choose which products or categories it applies to — or select All Items for a storewide sale. Set conditions like minimum spend or minimum quantity. The promotion activates automatically at the start date and deactivates at the end.

Happy hour and time-based promotions#

For time-based promotions, set the active hours alongside the dates. A happy hour might run 16:00-18:00 every weekday. The POS applies the discount automatically during those hours and removes it outside the window. Staff do not need to remember or manually apply discounts. The system handles it based on the clock.

Tracking promotion performance#

Each promotion has its own performance dashboard showing: total redemptions, revenue generated during the promotion, average basket size during versus outside the promotion, and margin impact. This tells you whether the promotion drove incremental sales or just discounted purchases that would have happened anyway. Use this data to decide whether to repeat, modify, or retire a promotion.

Staff-applied discounts#

Managers and supervisors can apply manual discounts during checkout for situations not covered by automatic promotions — a damaged item, a customer complaint, a VIP gesture. Manual discounts require a reason and are logged in the audit trail. Set a maximum manual discount percentage per role to prevent abuse.
