Setting Up QR Code Payments
Generate QR codes for customers to scan and pay via mobile money or bank apps.
How QR payments work#
A QR code encodes your payment details โ merchant number, amount, and reference. The customer scans it with their banking app or mobile money app and confirms payment. This is faster than entering a Paybill number manually and reduces errors. AskBiz generates dynamic QR codes with the exact transaction amount pre-filled.
Enabling QR payments#
Go to POS > Settings > Payments > QR Payments. Select which providers to enable QR for โ M-Pesa, bank apps, or others supported in your market. The POS checkout screen shows a Generate QR button when QR-enabled providers are selected. Click it to display the code on screen or print it on the receipt for the customer to scan.
Static vs dynamic QR codes#
Dynamic QR codes include the exact amount and a unique reference for each transaction. This is the default during checkout. Static QR codes display a fixed merchant identifier โ the customer enters the amount themselves. Use static codes for display at the counter as a fallback. Dynamic codes are more reliable because they eliminate amount entry errors.
