Configuring Stock-Level Monitoring Alerts
Get notified when specific products fall below configurable stock thresholds.
Stock alerts vs low-stock thresholds#
Stock-level alerts work through the Alerts system and offer more flexibility than the basic low-stock thresholds in Inventory. You can set alerts based on days of stock remaining (not just unit count), alert at multiple levels (warning at 14 days, critical at 7 days), and route different alert levels to different people โ the warehouse gets the first warning, the purchasing manager gets the critical alert.
Setting up stock alerts#
Go to Alerts > New Rule. Select Stock Level as the metric. Choose a specific product, category, or All Products. Set the condition โ for example Stock Days Below 14. Add the notification channel. You can create a chain: one alert at 14 days (email to warehouse), another at 7 days (WhatsApp to purchasing), and another at 3 days (push notification to owner).
Stock days calculation#
Stock days estimates how many days of inventory you have remaining based on your average daily sales rate. AskBiz calculates this automatically from your sales data. A product with 100 units in stock and an average of 5 sales per day has 20 stock days. This is more useful than raw unit count because it accounts for sales velocity.
