Exporting POS Transaction Data
Export your POS sales, inventory, and staff data as CSV or PDF. Send reports to your accountant, import into spreadsheets, or back up your records.
What you can export#
AskBiz POS lets you export the following data sets:
- Transactions — every sale, refund, void, and amendment with full line-item detail
- Daily summaries — one row per day with total revenue, transactions, average basket, and VAT
- Inventory — current product catalogue with stock levels, prices, and categories
- Staff performance — per-staff revenue, transactions, and metrics for a date range
- VAT report — VAT breakdown by rate for your accountant
All exports are available in CSV (for spreadsheets) and PDF (for printing or emailing).
How to export#
Go to /pos/reports and select the report you want. Set the date range using the date picker, then tap the Export button in the top-right corner. Choose CSV or PDF and the file will download to your device.
For scheduled exports, go to Settings → POS → Scheduled Exports. You can set up a weekly or monthly email that delivers a CSV or PDF to your inbox (or your accountant's inbox) automatically. This is useful for businesses that need to send regular takings reports.
Importing exported data into other tools#
CSV exports from AskBiz POS are formatted for easy import into:
- Excel or Google Sheets — open the CSV directly, all columns are labelled
- QuickBooks or Xero — use the accounting platform's bank/sales import feature. AskBiz CSVs include the date, description, and amount columns these platforms expect
- Other BI tools — the CSV format is standard and compatible with any tool that reads comma-separated files
If your accounting software is connected to AskBiz, POS data flows automatically — you do not need to export and import manually.
