What is the Sales Map?#

The Sales Map is an interactive map in your POS admin dashboard (🗺️ Map tab at askbiz.co/pos) that shows a pin for every completed sale that has location data. It lets you see at a glance where your business is happening — across market zones, delivery areas, or event venues.

The map is powered by Leaflet.js and uses OpenStreetMap tiles. It is available to business owners and admin-level staff. Cashiers do not have access to the map view.

Enabling location on a cashier device#

Location is captured by the cashier's device browser at the moment each sale completes. To enable it:

1. Open askbiz.co/pos on the cashier device

2. When prompted, tap Allow for location access

3. Confirm the green dot appears in the cashier header

The green dot is your real-time indicator:

  • Green dot visible — GPS is active; all completed sales will be geo-tagged automatically
  • No dot or amber dot — location is unavailable; sales complete normally without coordinates

If the browser previously denied location, go to the browser's site settings for askbiz.co, re-enable location, and reload the page. Once allowed, the permission persists — the cashier does not need to re-authorise each session.

What each map pin shows#

Tapping a pin on the Sales Map opens a popup with:

  • Sale amount — in your business currency (e.g. KSh 450)
  • Date and time — when the transaction completed
  • Cashier name — who processed the sale
  • Payment method — cash, card, or mobile money

Pins cluster automatically in dense areas. Use the date range filter at the top of the map to narrow down to a specific day, week, or custom period. Zoom and pan the map to explore different areas.

Transactions without location data#

Not every sale will have a pin. Transactions without coordinates are excluded from the map but appear normally in all other reports and transaction lists. A sale will not carry location data if:

  • The cashier did not grant location permission
  • GPS was unavailable at the moment of sale (e.g. poor signal indoors)
  • The sale was recorded in offline mode

No action is needed for untagged transactions — they are complete and accurate records, just without the spatial component.
