Activating the Restaurant sector#

The Restaurant sector is available to all AskBiz POS accounts. In your admin dashboard at askbiz.co/pos, go to the Services tab and select the Restaurant pill. This opens the restaurant hub, which links through to pos.askbiz.co/restaurant โ€” the dedicated interface for front-of-house and kitchen staff.

Assigning staff to Restaurant#

In the Staff tab, edit each staff member who will work in the restaurant and set their Sector to Restaurant. When they log in at pos.askbiz.co, they will be directed to the restaurant interface automatically. Staff assigned to other sectors (Retail, Repair) will not see the restaurant workflow.

Setting up your menu#

Your restaurant menu lives in the Inventory section, filtered to the Restaurant sector. Add menu items with name, price, and category (e.g. Starter, Main, Dessert, Drinks). Categories appear as tabs on the order screen so staff can find items quickly. You can also flag items as 86'd (out of stock) from the dashboard without removing them from the menu permanently.

Processing orders#

Staff access orders at pos.askbiz.co/restaurant/orders. They select items, add quantities, and submit the order. Orders flow into the kitchen display (or print to a receipt printer if connected). When the table is ready to pay, the cashier opens the order, applies any discounts, and processes payment. Each completed order creates a transaction that feeds your revenue dashboard.

Understanding the restaurant dashboard#

The restaurant hub at pos.askbiz.co/restaurant shows today's revenue, covers (number of guests served), average ticket value, and top-selling dishes. The daily brief card appears each morning with an AI-generated summary of yesterday's performance and a recommendation for today. Anomaly chips alert you to unusual patterns โ€” unexpected revenue drops, unusually high waste, or staffing cost spikes.
